The BC Federation of Students represents students at post-secondary institutions across the province and advocates on their behalf on issues like affordability and accessibility.
The BCFS wanted to communicate who the organization is and what they do, to members (who may not even realize they are members), students, and the general public. Our team scripted and produced an animated video, using a professional voice-over, sound design, and music.
We came up with the idea of showing students facing big obstacles in a literal way, having single characters encounter oversized objects representing common challenges, like a giant calendar, or a huge stack of bills, to show how overwhelming it can feel to navigate student life as an individual. Then we showed how collective effort can make a difference, having our characters help each other scale a giant stack of books stretching up toward the clouds.
In the end, those oversized objects get shrunken down to a manageable, human scale, and our characters have been able to overcome those obstacles as members of a collective, which is precisely what the BCFS is all about.
