BC Hydro wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to travel within the province with its growing number of public charging stations.
The goal was to tell the story of BC Hydro’s spokesperson ‘Dave’ as he discovered everything about owning an EV while driving across the province. He’d tackle common questions and misconceptions along his journey through his experiences and conversations with the people he met along the way.
Starting on Vancouver Island, our crews helped document this journey as Dave made stops in Vancouver, Kamloops, Revelstoke, Golden and Yoho National Park. For logistical reasons, the trip was not done in real-time but instead production took place over the course of several weeks with a quick turn-around on editing by our team after each stage. A variety of cameras and filming techniques were used to give the footage an authentic ‘vlogger’ feel.
This campaign was ambitious in scope – from the timeline and logistics, to the 40+ deliverables in a range of formats for various social media channels. It’s no wonder that BC Hydro was named Marketer of the Year by the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association for the campaign!
